Free Spaying/Neutering DOGS/CATS OF UPLAND RESIDENTS ONLY In our continuing effort to help reduce the number of dogs and cats euthanized by the City of Upland Animal Shelter, HOPE is offering FREE spaying/neutering for dogs and cats of Upland residents. Since 2005, HOPE has funded the altering of hundreds of dogs and cats belonging to Upland residents in service to our community.. UPDATE: AUGUST 20, 2008 To all those that are patiently waiting to arrange an appointment to have your dog or cat altered free of charge, help is on the way!! We will be posting a new announcement in a couple of weeks that will give everyone that has e-mailed requesting their pet be scheduled for this FREE service an opportunity to have surgery! Please be patient.......because residents in UPLAND, will be able to make arrangements to have your pets altered free of charge. We apologize for the delay, but we are working on this program and will be announcing the details on how to schedule your pet as soon as we confirm all the details. This is VERY EXCITING NEWS for all those waiting for service. You won't be disappointed. As soon as the information is posted, please e-mail again so that we can schedule your pet! Western University's School of Veterinary Medicine mobile VACS [Veterinary Ambulatory Community Service] van is scheduled on the following dates: NEW DATES FOR 2008 If you have already e-mailed us to be scheduled for this free service, please e-mail us NOW. We will be in touch with you soon to schedule an appointment for this FREE service funded by Helping Out Pets Everyday. If you do not hear from us in a timely manner, please e-mail us again and we will try our best to schedule you. Please remember, we have a lot of requests for this service and will do our best to accommodate everyone! For this appointment period, we can schedule only 7 appointments per date.......so please be patient as we try to schedule all of those who request this FREE service. IMPORTANT UPDATE We were expecting NEW DATES for August through December of 2008. Unfortunately, we have just learned the service vehicle will not be going off campus during the first 8 weeks of their new semester so we will not be able to schedule any appointments until October. The VACS mobile spay/neuter van WILL NOT BE SERVICING OUR AREA during the months of August/September. New dates for October through December will be announced shortly and those interested in making appointments for these available dates may e-mail us when the dates post so that we can schedule appointments. We apologize for this inconvenience. We are posting this information because we were just advised and because we know there are so many residents that have e-mailed that have requested our FREE service. The program will continue in October and we hope to be able to service everyone at that time. In order to take advantage of this service provided and funded by HOPE, you must be an UPLAND RESIDENT and you must have a PRE-SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT [proof of residency is required]. UPDATE: December, 2007 We have just been awarded a $1000 GRANT from PETCO to help to fund our FREE spay/neuter program for Upland residents. HOPE has been funding this FREE service to the community since 2005 and we will continue to fund it in order to help to reduce the number of puppies/dogs and kittens/cats that are euthanized in our community.
